The Snow Canyon Warriors were the 58-53 winner over the Dixie Flyers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The matchup between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Snow Canyon falling 70-54. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Dixie is ranked fourth).
Despite the loss, Snow Canyon still got an impressive performance from Owen Mackay, who scored 27 points along with three steals. That was a full 50% of Snow Canyon's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Drey Smith, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Snow Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Dixie, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with that win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Snow Canyon will take on Hurricane at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hurricane is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Dixie, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Desert Hills at 7:00 p.m. Desert Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Dixie likes a good challenge.
