The Elmwood Royals will take on the Lakota Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elmwood will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
On Wednesday, Elmwood made easy work of Riverdale and carried off a 19-2 win. Considering the Royals have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Allyie Reynolds and Addi Hoffman were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Reynolds tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Hoffman tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Reynolds went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Hoffman went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Hoffman has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Leah Allison and Libbie Tyson did most of the damage at the plate: Allison went 3-for-4 with seven RBI and two doubles, while Tyson went 2-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those seven RBI gave Allison a new career-high. Maddy Campbell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Lakota suffered their biggest defeat since May 6, 2024 on Wednesday. They lost 17-10 to Hopewell-Loudon. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lexi Moon made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Savanah Vestal, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Elmwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lakota, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Elmwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like Lakota struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Elmwood's way against Lakota in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, as Elmwood made off with a 13-2 win. Do the Royals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
