The Vincennes Lincoln Alices will square off against the Terre Haute South Vigo Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Vincennes Lincoln took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They blew past South Knox 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Alices, who have now won nine matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Luke Hall, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Anderson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Vincennes Lincoln hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Terre Haute South Vigo entered their tilt with South Vermillion on Monday with eight consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with nine. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 14-0 shutout.
Ben Sellers looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Matthew Ewing was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Noah Fields, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Terre Haute South Vigo's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-10. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Vincennes Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 15-7.
Vincennes Lincoln came out on top in a nail-biter against Terre Haute South Vigo in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 10-8. Will the Alices repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
