The Herkimer Magicians had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 72-56 win over Adirondack on Thursday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bailey Gleasman, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Gleasman scored a full 30.4% of Adirondack's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan McGrath, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Herkimer's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Adirondack, they bumped their record down to 1-5 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Herkimer will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lowville at 1:30 p.m. on January 13, 2024. Adirondack will be home for the holidays to greet Clinton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
