Lincoln and Tecumseh are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Railsplitters will head out to face off against the Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.4 runs per game this season.
Lincoln was handed a nine-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Dexter 4-3. The Railsplitters haven't had any issues with the Dreadnaughts recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Bria Powell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Alyssa Strickland was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. McKaylie Kern also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Tecumseh got the win against Jackson on Monday by a conclusive 19-1. Considering the Indians have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Laura Nadeau made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nadeau was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Eldred, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Aubree Barkway was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Tecumseh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .767. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory got Tecumseh back to even at 8-8. As for Lincoln, their record is now 8-3.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lincoln has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .488. However, it's not like Tecumseh struggles in that department as they've averaged .498. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lincoln was able to grind out a solid win over Tecumseh when the teams last played back in May of 2023, winning 8-5. Will the Railsplitters repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
