Hannibal has gone 9-1 against Fulton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Pirates will challenge the Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Fulton took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Hannibal, who comes in off a win.
Hannibal had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Marshall on Tuesday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Owls with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Pirates not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since October 7th (when they won 3-0).
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Hannibal took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-14, 25-15.
Meanwhile, Fulton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 3-0 to Hallsville.
Fulton was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-14, 25-22.
Hannibal will have to contain Bre Knighten as she made an impact in Fulton's last game. She had 22 digs, 11 kills, two aces, and one block. Knighten is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had seven or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Estella Vanschenkhof, who had 21 assists and five digs.
Fulton's defeat dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Hannibal, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-9-1 record this season.
Hannibal took their win against Fulton in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
