The Northside Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their eighth straight loss. They fell 58-49 to Columbus. While losing is never fun, Northside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 466th, while Columbus is ranked 191st).
Despite the loss, Northside still got an impressive performance from Barrington Adams, who scored 23 points. The contest was Adams' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nathan Saylor, who scored eight points.
Northside's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Columbus, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northside will finish 2023 at home by hosting Shaw at 3:30 p.m. on December 29th. Shaw is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Columbus and Carver will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
