Liberty hasn't had much luck against Pendleton recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Red Devils will challenge the Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. Liberty is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Liberty is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Chesnee on Monday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles.
Liberty saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was T.J. Borow, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Pendleton had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Mustangs.
Ayden Clay made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Clay was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Cody Williams was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Barrett Reeves was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.
Pendleton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 5-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Pendleton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-10. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
Liberty came up short against Pendleton in their previous matchup back in March, falling 9-4. Can the Red Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
