Hilltop Christian hasn't had much luck against Living Water Christian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hilltop Christian Chargers will head out to take on the Living Water Christian Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Hilltop Christian needed a bit of extra time to put away Greenville Christian Academy. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 64-54. The win was nothing new for the Chargers as they're now sitting on four straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hilltop Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Barbour, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Philip Joyner, who posted 16 points.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Living Water Christian against Coastal Brigade on Tuesday as the team secured a 60-22 victory. With the Warriors ahead 40-15 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Living Water Christian's win came from a few key players Hilltop Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Peyton Pennington, who went 9 of 12 on his way to 22 points in addition to five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dwight Hooker, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points and six steals.
Hilltop Christian's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Living Water Christian, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Hilltop Christian and Living Water Christian are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Hilltop Christian hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 62.2 points per game. However, it's not like Living Water Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 67.2 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Hilltop Christian came up short against Living Water Christian when the teams last played back in February, falling 76-63. Can Hilltop Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
