Even though the Argos Dragons scored an imposing 56 points on Saturday, the West Central Trojans still came out on top. West Central managed a 61-56 win over Argos. The win made it back-to-back wins for West Central.
West Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Annika Smith out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds. Smith hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Liza Allen, who scored 16 points along with 3 steals.
West Central's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-6. As for Argos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Central will face off against North White at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North White comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Argos, they will head out on the road to face off against Rochester at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Rochester focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
