The McDonald County Mustangs and the Carl Junction Bulldogs will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in McDonald County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
McDonald County pushed their score all the way to 66 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 73-66 to Glendale. While losing is never fun, McDonald County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while Glendale is ranked 170th).
Meanwhile, Carl Junction also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Southside by a score of 58-48. Carl Junction has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Brody Pant, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Cooper Vediz, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds.
McDonald County now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Carl Junction, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
McDonald County opened the new year with a less-than-successful 52-43 loss to Carl Junction. Can McDonald County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
