The Circle Thunderbirds will be playing at home against the Mulvane Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.
Circle's 8-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 31-22 to Wellington on Friday.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Justin Andrews, who rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown. Conner Chadwell was another key contributor, throwing for 186 yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Circle's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Coy Stephens and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Mulvane ended up a good deal behind McPherson on Friday and lost 28-10. That's two games in a row now that Mulvane has lost by exactly 18 points.
Mulvane's defeat came about despite a quality game from Fisher Dye, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown. Dye's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards.
The losses dropped Circle to 1-6 and Mulvane to 3-4.
Circle took their victory against Mulvane when the teams last played back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 40-14. Will Circle repeat their success, or does Mulvane have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
