Not much got past Embrie Bednar, who gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks to keep Bennington off the board. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Bednar.
At the plate, Norris saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey McMurray, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lincoln East faced Elkhorn South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Spartans fell just short of the Storm by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Spartans couldn't push the score so high this time.
Norris has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.75 runs across that stretch. As for Lincoln East, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.
