The Tri-Valley Bears will take on the Eldred Yellowjackets at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Liberty hit Tri-Valley with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bears came up short against the Indians, falling 12-2. The Bears have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Tri-Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Verbert, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Another was Andrew Kelly, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Ellenville hit Eldred with a four-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Yellowjackets fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 10-8.
Evan Zgrodek made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Tice, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Tri-Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Eldred, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tri-Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eldred struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Tri-Valley came up short against Eldred in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, falling 8-3. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
