Jackson is 0-9 against Upson-Lee since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Jackson Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Upson-Lee Knights at 7:30 p.m. Jackson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Jackson scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They slipped by Pike County 66-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Jackson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kevan Gray, who scored 17 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'dariyan Pennamon, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Upson-Lee came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Pike County 85-52 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Upson-Lee has posted yet this season.
Jackson's win bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Upson-Lee, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.
Jackson came up short against Upson-Lee in their previous matchup last Wednesday, falling 52-40. Can Jackson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
