The Signal Mountain Eagles will face off against the Silverdale Academy Seahawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Signal Mountain is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 17 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Red Bank on Tuesday. They lost 12-2 to the Lions.
Meanwhile, Silverdale Academy waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Hurricanes. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Seahawks have posted since April 1, 2024.
Drake Dills was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Moxon Montieth looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Caleb Voss and Jonathan Hasty did most of the damage at the plate: Voss scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Hasty went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Silverdale Academy pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Signal Mountain, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-7.
Signal Mountain came out on top in a nail-biter against Silverdale Academy in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 8-6. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Seahawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
