Softball Recap: Prairie View Wins Going Away Against Columbus

Prairie View made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Columbus, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Prairie View put the hurt on Columbus with a sharp 22-9 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Buffalos, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Ellie Jarred and Rian Stainbrook did most of the damage at the plate: Jarred scored four runs and stole a base while going 5-for-5, while Stainbrook scored three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Jarred a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Lueker, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.

Prairie View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Prairie View's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Columbus, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Prairie View will head out to take on Santa Fe Trail at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbus, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pittsburg at 4:30 p.m. on April 22.
