The Indian Creek Redskins are taking a road trip to take on the Oak Glen Golden Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Indian Creek has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Oak Glen will arrive with three straight victories.
Indian Creek came up short against Harrison Central on Monday, falling 12-4.
Emma Vok made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Oak Glen won against Northstar Christian Academy on Thursday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Golden Bears beat Millville by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Golden Bears, who until this match were averaging 3.89 runs allowed.
Danica Holden made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Holden was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 games.
In other batting news, Oak Glen let Addie Smith and Marleah Lough run wild. Smith went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Lough went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Smith has posted over her last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Bruce, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Oak Glen hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millville struck out ten times.
Oak Glen's record now sits at 19-8. As for Indian Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Indian Creek couldn't quite get it done against Oak Glen in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Redskins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
