The Aurora Central Trojans will venture away from home to take on the Skyview Wolverines at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Aurora Central has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Aurora Central couldn't beat Adams City on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Trojans fell 11-7 to the Eagles. Trojans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Eagles since on Tuesday.

Anderson Rodriguez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. He has become a key player for Aurora Central: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorge De Los Santos, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Skyview). Everything went their way against Thornton on Tuesday as they made off with a 19-7 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won eight in a row.
Isaiah Rodriguez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Skyview let Andrew Casillas and Joseph Trujillo run wild. Casillas went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Trujillo went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those five runs gave Casillas a new career-high. Kevin Gutierrez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Skyview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matches.
Skyview's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Aurora Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Aurora Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Skyview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Aurora Central skirted past Skyview 12-11 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
