The Southern Choctaw Indians and the Choctaw County Tigers will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Southern Choctaw is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
Last Tuesday, Southern Choctaw slipped by Marengo 42-41.
Choctaw County fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 55-47 win over Millry on Wednesday.
Choctaw County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyshawn Carlisle led the charge by scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Carlisle has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Jarrod Chaney was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists and four steals.
Southern Choctaw's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Choctaw County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
Everything went Southern Choctaw's way against Choctaw County in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as Southern Choctaw made off with a 65-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southern Choctaw since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
