Lone Pine is a perfect 10-0 against Trona since October of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles will host the Tornadoes at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lone Pine has seven straight victories, Trona has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
On Monday, it was close, but Lone Pine sidestepped Mojave for a 3-2 win.
Lone Pine had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 26-28, 26-24, 25-16, 15-13.
Meanwhile, Trona didn't have quite enough to beat Baker on Wednesday and fell 3-2. While the Tornadoes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Braves 25-18 in the first set.
Trona started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 20-25, 25-21, 28-26, 15-9.
Lone Pine's victory bumped their record up to 13-11-2. As for Trona, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9-1.
Everything went Lone Pine's way against Trona in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Lone Pine made off with a 3-0 win. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Tornadoes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
