Medfield is 8-2 against Ashland since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Clockers at 4:30 p.m. Medfield is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
While Medfield didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Bellingham on Monday. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Luke Gobin was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Gobin was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Alex Zilora was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Charlie Duggan, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
Medfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellingham only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ashland). They won by a run and slipped past Dedham 7-6. The Clockers haven't had any issues with the Marauders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Oliver Laruea, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Medfield pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Ashland, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-3.
Ashland's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Medfield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Ashland, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Medfield keep running through batters, or will the Clockers buck the trend?
Medfield suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Ashland when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
