With a playoff win on the line, Aurora rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against the Central City Bison as they made off with a 42-21 win. Considering the Huskies have won five contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Aurora found their leader in sophomore Wyatt Pollet, who rushed for 212 yards and one TD while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 142 yards and three touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. Those 212 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Pollet. Aurora's leading receiver Canon Allen was Pollet's top target yet again, picking up 84 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in one rushing score.
Aurora was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 311 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 276 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.
Despite the loss, Central City still got an impressive performance from Parker Zikmund, who threw for 178 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 92 yards. The Bison's leading receiver Wyatt Dent was Zikmund's top target yet again, picking up 73 receiving yards and one TD.
Aurora pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.0 points on average over those games.
