Fostoria hasn't had much luck against Eastwood recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Redmen will take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Fostoria has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Fostoria is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They came up short against Genoa Area, falling 19-9.
Mason Cooley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs. Blake Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Eastwood came out on top against Rossford on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Bulldogs. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Kadyn Donnell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Brock Messinger and Connor Norton did most of the damage at the plate: Messinger went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles, while Norton went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Norton a new career-high. Paul Lautzenheiser was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Eastwood is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Fostoria, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-21.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fostoria has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Eastwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Fostoria suffered a grim 17-8 defeat to Eastwood when the teams last played back in April. Can the Redmen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
