After five games on the road, Fairview is heading back home. They will take on the Hillman Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fairview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 697th, while Hillman is ranked 264th).
Last Tuesday, Fairview had to suffer through a rough 72-8 loss at the hands of Posen. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fairview has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Hillman waltzed into their match on Tuesday with ten straight wins but they left with 11. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 82-18 win over Atlanta. Hillman has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
Trenton Taratuta continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 6-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 43 points and 14 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenden Rouleau, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Fairview has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Hillman, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2.
Fairview was taken down by Hillman 70-40 in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Taratuta, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds. Now that Fairview knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
