American Heritage has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The North Broward Prep Eagles at 6:00 a.m. on Friday. American Heritage will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
Last Friday, American Heritage was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 27-21 to Boynton Beach.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mason Kasten, who threw for 213 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Surtain, who picked up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
North Broward Prep fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 27-20 win over Pine Crest on Friday.
North Broward Prep relied on the efforts of Mason Chapman, who threw for 206 yards and a touchdown while completing 84% of his passes, and Anthony Mestre, who gained 85 total yards and two touchdowns.
North Broward Prep's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Cory Brown and his three sacks.
American Heritage's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Archbishop McCarthy and 7-2 Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.7% over those games). As for North Broward Prep, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
American Heritage was dealt a bruising 44-10 defeat at the hands of North Broward Prep in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can American Heritage avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
