Plymouth and Canton are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will welcome the Cobras at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Plymouth took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Northville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the Mustangs on Friday.
Skylar Weil spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.
At the plate, Plymouth got a big performance out of Hannah Simko, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. That double was Simko's first of the season. Natalie McCall was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canton). Everything went their way against Belleville on Monday as they made off with a 15-2 win. The Cobras not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024 (when they won 15-0).
Canton also got a great performance from Devyn Plozai as she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Plozai a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Tatijana Shockling was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sydney Felkins, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Canton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Plymouth's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Canton, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Plymouth might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Canton when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
