The Platte Canyon Huskies lost against the Middle Park Panthers back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Platte Canyon lost to Middle Park on the road by a decisive 39-21 margin.
Sydney Curtis and Ily Hardey certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Curtis scored ten points along with two steals, while Hardey scored seven points along with nine rebounds. That was a full 47.6% of Platte Canyon's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Caylie Lewis was another key contributor, scoring no points along with four steals.
Middle Park can attribute much of their success to Aubree Hanson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals. Hanson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Nance, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Platte Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Middle Park, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-6.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing KIPP Denver Collegiate the next time they take the court. Platte Canyon will host KIPP Denver Collegiate at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Middle Park will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
