Carrollwood Day had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-6 win over the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won eight contests by 34 points or more so far this season.

Carrollwood Day got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kameron Battle out in front who rushed for 144 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. The Patriots also got help from DJ WIlliams, who showed off his sure hands for 99 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Carrollwood Day was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 288 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 207 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.

Another reason for the win was Carrollwood Day's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for ten sacks. It was truly a group effort as Antonio Thomas, Zylen Little, and Zion Garrett picked up two apiece. Garrett also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine. Carrollwood Day received some extra help from Jason Dungy, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Carrollwood Day's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Coming up, Carrollwood Day will welcome Clearwater Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,029 yards in their previous games. Melbourne Central Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
