Basketball Game Preview: Wilson Prep Tigers vs. Southeast Halifax Trojans

Wilson Prep is 10-0 against Southeast Halifax since November of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Wilson Prep Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Southeast Halifax Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Wilson Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 79.1 points per game this season.

Wilson Prep is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 97-35 win over Weldon. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season.

Wilson Prep found their leader in sophomore Zack Draughn, who went 11 of 16 on his way to 25 points and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Draughn has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Newsome, who posted 14 points along with five assists and five boards.

Wilson Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Southeast Halifax was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 51-39 to Roanoke Rapids.

Wilson Prep is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.4 points per game. As for Southeast Halifax, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Everything went Wilson Prep's way against Southeast Halifax in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Wilson Prep made off with a 94-70 victory. Does Wilson Prep have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southeast Halifax turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
