After flying high against the Taft School Big Red last Saturday, the Cheshire Academy Cats came back down to earth. Cheshire Academy fell 20-13 to Suffield Academy on Friday. Cheshire Academy has struggled against Suffield Academy recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Cats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dante Reno, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and also threw for 227 yards and a touchdown while completing 72% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Reynolds, who picked up 131 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Cheshire Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Suffield Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Cheshire Academy will be playing at home against Avon Old Farms at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Avon Old Farms is ranked sixth, while Cheshire Academy is ranked fourth). Suffield Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
