Baseball Recap: Monroe Has No Trouble Against Whitewater

While Monroe didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the Whitewater Whippets with a sharp 16-3 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Cheesemakers in their matchups with the Whippets: they've now won four in a row.

Logan Meier and Cam Newcomer did most of the damage at the plate: Meier went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Newcomer went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Meier has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Marcus Ott was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Monroe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whitewater only posted a batting average of .200.

Monroe's record now sits at 6-3. As for Whitewater, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Monroe wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Big Foot on the 2nd. As for Whitewater, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-0 victory against Clinton on the 2nd.
