Basketball Game Preview: Tanque Verde Hawks vs. Catalina Trojans

The Tanque Verde Hawks will challenge the Catalina Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tanque Verde has four straight victories, Catalina has 26 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Tanque Verde will head into Friday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 65-point drubbing they dealt Andrada Polytechnic on Friday. Tanque Verde blew past Andrada Polytechnic 77-12. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 26 points or more this season.

Tanque Verde's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Philip Knott, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Knott has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rich Knott, who went 6 for 10 en route to 12 points along with five assists and four steals.

Meanwhile, Catalina played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 71-28 loss at the hands of Douglas. The Trojans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-19.

Tanque Verde is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Catalina, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.
