The Artesia Pioneers can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 81-40 win over South Gate at home. The victory was nothing new for Artesia as they're now sitting on four straight.
Leading Artesia to victory were Jovell Tate and Zion Staples. Tate scored 16 points, while Staples scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Staples is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Reed, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Artesia's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points per game. As for South Gate, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Artesia the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Cerritos at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. One thing working in Cerritos' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups. As for South Gate, they will head out on the road to square off against Legacy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Legacy is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
