Holt has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Tuscaloosa Academy Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Holt comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 12 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Holt fell victim to Bibb County's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Choctaws 54-0. While losing is never fun, Holt can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while Bibb County is ranked 78th).
Meanwhile, Tuscaloosa Academy put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 48-26 margin over Cold Springs. The win was familiar territory for Tuscaloosa Academy who now have four in a row.
It was another big night for Preston Lancaster, who threw for 266 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Mills Powell, who picked up 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Tuscaloosa Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Cold Springs' QB won't forget Evers Sikes anytime soon given Sikes sacked him four times.
Holt's defeat was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 2.6 points per game. As for Tuscaloosa Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Holt was dealt a bruising 41-6 loss at the hands of Tuscaloosa Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Holt have more luck at home instead of on the road?
