The Braxton County Eagles had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 56-37 victory over Clay County on Friday. The victory was just what Braxton County needed coming off of a 74-52 defeat in their prior match.
Leading Braxton County to victory were Jamie Nettles and Riley Hunt. Nettles dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Hunt dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Landon Stewart was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Braxton County's win bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Clay County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Braxton County will be playing in front of their home fans against South Harrison at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. South Harrison is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Clay County, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Doddridge County at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Doddridge County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
