Softball Recap: Hamilton Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Hamilton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They blew past the Basha Bears 13-2 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jazmin Ramirez made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Ramirez was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Madison Sauni was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Taylor Hampton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Hamilton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Basha only posted an OBP of .316.

Hamilton pushed their record up to 17-7-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Basha, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 17-5.

Hamilton and Basha should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. The Huskies will challenge Chandler at 3:45 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (8 vs. 77). Meanwhile, Basha (ranked second) will meet Horizon (ranked 48th) at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
