The Durham Academy Cavaliers were the 70-64 winner over the East Chapel Hill Wildcats when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Durham Academy fell to the Wildcats 44-40.
When it comes to explaining why Durham Academy lost on Wednesday, one person who can't be blamed is PJ Jeffries. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was JJ Wilcox, who scored ten points.
It was another big night for Isaiah Styron, who scored 26 points along with two steals for East Chapel Hill.
Durham Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 15-13. As for East Chapel Hill, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Durham Academy will take on the Knights at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Chapel Hill, they will head out on the road to take on the Knights at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
