The Calhoun Academy Cougars and the Sharkey Issaquena Academy Confederates squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Calhoun Academy Cougars had to settle for second. They took a 32-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Confederates. Calhoun Academy's defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Calhoun Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Easton Dishman. Despite the final result, he rushed for 247 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Dishman was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Coley Denton also helped with three touchdowns in total.
It was another big night for Gary Jackson jr., who rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 53 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes for Sharkey Issaquena Academy. Corderrius Jackson also helped out as he racked up 107 rushing yards.
Calhoun Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Sharkey Issaquena Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
