The Vallejo Redhawks had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Richmond 49-0 at home. Given Vallejo's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 445th, while Richmond is ranked 994th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Vallejo can attribute much of their success to Sedrick Vaughn, who picked up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Vaughn was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 64 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasier Smith, who threw for 148 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes.
Vallejo has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Richmond, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Vallejo will play host again and welcome Del Norte, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Del Norte will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Richmond does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
