Basketball Game Preview: Loris Lions vs. Aynor Blue Jackets

Loris is 10-0 against Aynor since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Loris Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Aynor Blue Jackets at 6:00 p.m. Aynor took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Loris, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Loris blew past Georgetown, posting a 67-24 win. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Janiya Richburg, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mari'Asia Moody, who posted 11 points in addition to seven steals and five assists.

Meanwhile, Aynor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 46-30 to Waccamaw.

Loris will have to contain Terianna Richardson as she made an impact in Aynor's last game. She dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Richardson also racked up six steals, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Elisha Huffman was another key player, putting up five points along with six boards and three steals.

Loris is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Aynor, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Loris was able to grind out a solid victory over Aynor in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 51-43. Does Loris have another victory up their sleeve, or will Aynor turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
