The Red Mountain Mountain Lions had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with  a   44-36  victory over Mesa. This was payback for Red Mountain, who suffered a  44-32  defeat the last time these two teams met.
 Red Mountain was led to victory by  Macy Johnson and  Payton Westra.  Johnson  scored 11 points along with six  rebounds, while  Westra  scored six points along with 16  rebounds. Westra hasn't dropped below eight  rebounds for four straight games.  Makaia Jenkins was another key contributor,  scoring 11 points along with two  steals.
 When it comes to explaining why Mesa lost, one person who can't be blamed is  Camille Higginbothan. Despite the final result, she  scored 15 points along with five  rebounds and three  steals. Another player making a difference was  Marlee Straub, who  scored seven points along with seven  rebounds and five  steals.
 Red Mountain pushed their record up to 18-5 with that  victory, which was their sixth straight  at home. Those good results were due in large part to their  offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Mesa, their defeat  ended a three-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 13-10.
 Red Mountain and Westwood will face off  at 7:00  p.m.  on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Red Mountain is facing Westwood at the right time seeing as Westwood is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Mesa, they and Mountain View will face off  at 7:00  p.m.  on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Mountain View has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
