Williamson has gone a perfect 3-0 against Byron-Bergen recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Marauders will be playing at home against the Bees at 4:45 p.m. The last four games Williamson has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Tuesday, Williamson narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past East Rochester 3-1.
Caiden Watson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.
At the plate, Williamson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey VanLare, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Byron-Bergen ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Attica 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bees have posted since April 10, 2024.
Martin McConnell was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Byron-Bergen is 2-1 when McConnell posts one or more home runs, but 5-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Byron-Bergen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Byron-Bergen is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Williamson, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Williamson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Byron-Bergen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Williamson was able to grind out a solid win over Byron-Bergen in their previous meeting back in May of 2019, winning 6-1. Will the Marauders repeat their success, or do the Bees have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
