Fruita Monument is 9-1 against Montrose since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Hawks at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fruita Monument has three straight wins, Montrose has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Fruita Monument's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over Grand Junction Central.
Grand Junction Central's batters probably weren't too happy with Josh Weaver, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (he gave up zero walks). Weaver also allowed no hits, which is notable because Fruita Monument is 4-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Noah Brackett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Cardoza, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Fruita Monument hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Montrose and Glenwood Springs had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Red Hawks came up short against the Demons on Saturday, falling 12-1.
Montrose saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brekin Hutto, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Fruita Monument pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Montrose, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
Everything went Fruita Monument's way against Montrose in their previous meeting on April 4th, as Fruita Monument made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Red Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
