They had to suffer through a rough 84-30 loss at the hands of Lexington School for the Deaf. New York School for the Deaf has not had much luck with Lexington School for the Deaf recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Despite the defeat, New York School for the Deaf saw an underclassman step up: John Kadie Suico scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Suico scored 15 or more points.
Lexington School for the Deaf got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Timothy Lucas out in front who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Lucas scored 15 or more points. Shawn Gilies was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
New York School for the Deaf has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season. As for Lexington School for the Deaf, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New York School for the Deaf will stay at home for another game and welcome American School for the Deaf at 5:00 p.m. on January 25th. American School for the Deaf presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than New York School for the Deaf in their respective states (American School for the Deaf is ranked 43rd in Connecticut, while New York School for the Deaf is ranked 816th in New York). Lexington School for the Deaf will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lowell at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
