The California Trojans were the 66-63 winner over the West Greene Pioneers when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. California took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers on Friday. California has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacob Ziolecki, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Ziolecki is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Vincent Manzella, who scored 15 points.
It was another big night for Parker Burns, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds for West Greene. Matthew Wassil was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.
California has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which is still a better percentage than their 4-13 record this season. As for West Greene, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-5.
California will be playing at home against the Maples at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mapletown is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for West Greene, they will head out on the road to take on the Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Geibel Catholic is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
