The Trenton Tigers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-46 victory over Williston on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for Trenton as they're now sitting on four straight.
Trenton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Koi Perry out in front who scored 11 points along with six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayley Sloan, who scored 14 points.
Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kierce Solomon, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Janiyah Span was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Williston's lineup was just a bit different on Wednesday as Solomon got a bit more time on the court (31 vs. her season average of 13.1). Solomon made the most of the opportunity, scoring 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Even though they lost, Williston smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trenton only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Trenton is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. As for Williston, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.
Trenton's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wildwood at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Wildwood has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 350 points over their last five matches. Williston does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
