Mattie Gibson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-5.
In other batting news, Ariyana Fairley was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kaliyah Sullivan was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
Stone hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, while Vancleave put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Gautier. Vancleave blew past Gautier 12-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Bailey Ross was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brianna Webster, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Stone's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Vancleave, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.
Stone skirted past Vancleave 4-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Stone repeat their success, or does Vancleave has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
