Nueces Canyon hadn't done well against Rocksprings recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Nueces Canyon Panthers were the clear victor by a 60-37 margin over the Rocksprings Angoras. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 matches by 23 points or more this season.

Nueces Canyon had a senior duo take command as Idrianna DeLeon dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards and Schreiner Meredith dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points DeLeon has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Sifuentes, who went 7 of 12 on her way to 16 points.

Nueces Canyon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

When it comes to explaining why Rocksprings lost, don't look at Alektra Hernandez. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points.

Nueces Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36.8 points. As for Rocksprings, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-17.

Nueces Canyon will welcome Leakey at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nueces Canyon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Leakey likes a good challenge. As for Rocksprings, they will head out to take on D'Hanis at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. D'Hanis will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Rocksprings surely won't give up without a fight.
