Basketball Recap: Armwood Skates Past Hillsborough with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Armwood over Hillsborough in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Armwood Hawks blew the Hillsborough Terriers out of the water with a 66-18 final score. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season.

Armwood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amaya Richardson out in front who went 7 for 13 on her way to 18 points in addition to six steals and five assists. Richardson's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaliyah Bandy, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

Armwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillsborough only pulled down five offensive boards.

Hillsborough's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaylesia James, who posted four points along with six boards and three blocks, and Anaja Griffin, who put up seven points. James has been hot recently, having posted three or more blocks the last four times she's played.

Armwood pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40.8 points. As for Hillsborough, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-6.

Armwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-38 loss against Sickles on the 8th. As for Hillsborough, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-26 defeat against Steinbrenner on the 8th.
